Profile
- Valid Master NCV / Master FG Certificate of Competency (CoC)
- Valid STCW Certifications and Medical Fitness Certificate
- Minimum 5 years of marine experience with at least 2–3 years as Tug Master
- Experience operating ASD Tug, Conventional Tug, Harbour Tug, or similar marine vessels
- Hands-on experience in berthing, unberthing, towing, escorting, and vessel assistance operations
- Familiarity with port regulations, marine safety procedures, and maritime laws
- Knowledge of vessel navigation, towing equipment, and emergency response procedures
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Experience working in shipyards, ports, offshore, or coastal operations preferred
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tug Operations & Navigation
- Safely operate and navigate the tug vessel during towing, berthing, unberthing, and escort operations
- Assist vessels entering, leaving, or shifting within the shipyard, harbor, and port limits
- Ensure safe maneuvering of vessels in confined waters and adverse weather conditions
- Maintain effective communication with pilots, vessel masters, port authorities, and marine control stations
- Monitor navigation equipment and ensure compliance with navigational procedures
2. Marine Operations Coordination
- Coordinate tug operations with shipyard management, marine operations teams, and vessel representatives
- Support dry-docking, undocking, vessel movement, and marine logistics activities within the shipyard
- Liaise with port authorities, harbor masters, and client representatives during vessel movements
- Ensure all tug operations are conducted in accordance with approved marine procedures and operational requirements
3. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with maritime regulations, port requirements, and company safety policies
- Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks before commencement of marine operations
- Implement and monitor safe work practices onboard the vessel
- Ensure all statutory certificates, licenses, and vessel documentation remain valid and updated
- Lead emergency response actions related to fire, collision, grounding, pollution, or man-overboard situations
4. Crew Management & Leadership
- Supervise and manage deck crew and marine personnel onboard the tug
- Assign duties and responsibilities to crew members and monitor performance
- Conduct emergency drills, onboard training sessions, and safety awareness programs
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and adherence to operational procedures
5. Vessel Maintenance & Readiness
- Coordinate with the Chief Engineer and technical team to ensure vessel readiness at all times
- Monitor the condition of towing gear, winches, communication equipment, and navigation systems
- Report defects, maintenance requirements, and operational concerns to management
- Ensure proper housekeeping and maintenance standards are maintained onboard
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate logbooks, voyage records, and operational reports
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports as required
- Record towing operations, fuel consumption, crew movements, and maintenance activities
- Report incidents, near misses, and operational abnormalities promptly
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews conducted by authorities or clients
7. Stakeholder Communication & Liaison
- Act as the primary onboard representative during tug operations
- Coordinate with port authorities, pilots, classification surveyors, and client representatives
- Attend operational meetings, safety meetings, and coordination discussions as required
- Maintain professional relationships with shipyard personnel, marine stakeholders, and regulatory authorities
Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
