Job Summary
The Copy Editor will be responsible for editing and proofreading educational content, ensuring grammatical accuracy, consistency, clarity, and adherence to the company's editorial guidelines. The ideal candidate should have experience in educational publishing and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Copy edit and proofread textbooks, workbooks, teacher resources, assessments, and other educational content.
- Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and sentence structure while preserving the author's intent.
- Ensure consistency in terminology, formatting, style, and editorial standards across publications.
- Verify facts, references, captions, tables, and cross-references for accuracy.
- Coordinate with Editors, Subject Matter Experts, Designers, and the Production team to resolve editorial queries.
- Review page proofs before final printing or digital publication.
- Ensure all assigned projects are completed within timelines without compromising quality.
- Follow the company's editorial style guide and quality benchmarks.
Eligibility
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communication, Literature, Education, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in copy editing, proofreading, or educational publishing.
- Excellent command of written English with strong grammar and editing skills.
- Familiarity with school curriculum, K–12 content, and educational publishing processes is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace.
- Knowledge of AI-assisted editing tools such as ChatGPT and Grammarly will be an added advantage.
