We are looking for a sharp, intellectually curious Investment Research Analyst who is passionate about financial markets. This is a hands-on research role spanning equity analysis, alternative investments, portfolio performance evaluation, and data-driven decision-making.
The role involves evaluating investment opportunities across Equities, Mutual Funds, Portfolio Management Services (PMS), Specialised Investment Funds (SIFs), Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), angel investing, and venture capital. Candidates who actively manage their own investment portfolio — across equities, derivatives, mutual funds, or alternative assets — are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
A. Investment Research & Equity Analysis
- Conduct fundamental research on listed & unlisted companies and sectors — financial statements, business models, management quality, and valuation metrics, DCF.
- Prepare research notes, investment summaries, and performance reports.
- Conduct internet-based research across SEBI, BSE/NSE filings, MCA and other financial portals.
B. PMS, SIF & AIF Evaluation
- Evaluate PMS, SIF, and AIF strategies using quantitative and qualitative parameters.
- Analyse performance consistency, risk-adjusted returns, portfolio concentration, and drawdowns.
- Compare fund performance against benchmarks and peer groups.
- Study and evaluate option-based strategies employed by SIFs.
- Evaluate financial products using quantitative ratios.
C. Fund Manager Research
- Track and analyse fund manager performance across market cycles.
- Research investment philosophy, portfolio construction methodology, and historical decision-making patterns.
- Build scorecards for evaluating fund managers.
D. Financial & Data Analytics
- Build advanced Excel models for financial ratio computation, portfolio comparison, and dashboards.
- Utilise CMIE and other databases for economic and financial research.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis for mutual funds, PMS, SIF, and AIF evaluation.
E. Micro & Macro Economic Research
- Monitor macroeconomic indicators: GDP, inflation, interest rates, and fiscal data.
- Analyse economic trends and connect macro developments with sectoral and stock-level implications.
- Prepare periodic market and economic updates.

Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
- MBA, Graduate or Postgraduate in Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Engineering, or any analytical discipline.
- Strong knowledge of financial products, investment concepts, and capital markets.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling, data analysis, dashboards, and advanced formulas.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and quantitative reasoning skills.
- Understanding of financial ratios, investment evaluation methodologies, and performance measurement metrics.
- Ability to conduct internet-based financial and economic research.
- Knowledge of Mutual Funds, PMS, SIFs, AIFs, derivatives, and option strategies will be preferred.
- RIA qualification will be an added advantage
Candidate Profile
- Experience of managing a personal investment portfolio spanning equities, mutual funds, derivatives, and/or alternative assets is preferred.
- Has conducted or follows fundamental research on listed companies
- Familiar with SIFs, PMS, or AIFs — through coursework, work exposure, or self-study
- Comfortable working with CMIE databases or similar data platforms
- Strong curiosity about investment strategies, wealth creation, and capital markets
- Minimum 3 years work experience.
