Job Title: Welder – Transformer Manufacturing

Job Summary:
The Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding metal components of electrical transformers, including tanks, radiators, frames, and other structural parts. The role ensures that all welds are strong, precise, and oil-tight to maintain the quality and safety of the transformers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding & Fabrication
- Perform MIG, TIG, and Arc welding on transformer components.
- Assemble and align metal parts according to technical drawings.
- Technical Reading
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure welds are defect-free, leak-proof, and meet industry standards.
- Conduct visual and non-destructive testing (e.g., dye penetration, leak tests).
- Material Handling
- Select appropriate electrodes, filler materials, and welding equipment.
- Handle steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials safely.
- Maintenance & Safety
- Maintain welding machines and tools in good working condition.
- Follow workplace safety protocols and use PPE correctly.
- Repair & Rework
- Repair or rework defective welds as per quality inspection feedback.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- SSLC /ITI/Diploma in Welding or Mechanical Trade.
- Proficiency in welding techniques (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW).
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of welding codes and industrial safety standards.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
Work Environment:
- Factory or workshop environment.
- Exposure to sparks, heat, and heavy machinery.
- May involve work at heights or confined spaces (inside tanks).
Performance Metrics:
- Accuracy and quality of welds.
- Timely completion of assigned welding tasks.
- Compliance with safety and quality standards.
