Maintenance Head – Paper Coating Industry

Salary: ₹80,000 – ₹90,000 per month
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Head / Head of Maintenance / Engineering Head to lead and manage the complete maintenance function of a paper coating manufacturing plant.
The role will be responsible for Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Utility Maintenance, ensuring maximum machine availability, minimum breakdowns and downtime, safe equipment operation, effective preventive and predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- Lead overall Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Utility Maintenance activities.
- Ensure maximum availability and reliability of production machinery.
- Develop and implement Preventive, Predictive and Breakdown Maintenance systems.
- Ensure quick response to machine breakdowns and minimize production downtime.
- Maintain detailed machine breakdown reports, including breakdown time, root cause, corrective action and restoration time.
- Analyze recurring breakdowns and implement permanent corrective actions.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Plan and monitor daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance schedules.
- Conduct regular machine inspections to identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
- Monitor maintenance performance and ensure timely completion of planned maintenance activities.
- Drive RCA, MTBF and MTTR improvement initiatives.
Production & Plant Coordination
- Coordinate with Production and other departments to schedule maintenance activities without affecting production targets.
- Support installation, commissioning and modification of new machines and equipment.
- Coordinate with OEMs, contractors and external service providers for specialized maintenance and technical support.
Machinery & Equipment Maintenance
Ensure effective maintenance of production and process equipment such as:
- Paper Machines
- Paper Coating Machines
- Dryers / Ovens
- Calenders
- Rewinders
- Cutters
- Packing & Converting Equipment
- Other Production and Process Machinery
Utility Maintenance
Ensure proper maintenance and reliability of plant utilities, including:
- Air Compressors
- DG Sets
- Electrical Systems
- HVAC
- Pumps
- Boilers / Thermic Systems
- Other Utility Equipment
Spare Parts & Cost Management
- Maintain adequate stock of critical spare parts and maintenance inventory.
- Monitor spare consumption and machine history.
- Control maintenance costs through effective manpower, spare and vendor utilization.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, machine improvement, automation and energy saving.
Team Management
- Lead and develop the maintenance team, including technicians, electricians and maintenance operators.
- Allocate manpower effectively according to maintenance requirements.
- Provide technical guidance during critical breakdowns and maintenance activities.
- Build a strong safety-focused and performance-oriented maintenance culture.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, statutory and environmental requirements.
- Ensure proper implementation of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures.
- Ensure safe maintenance practices during breakdown, inspection and preventive maintenance activities.
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate records of:
- Machine History
- Breakdown Records
- Preventive Maintenance
- Spare Consumption
- Maintenance Costs
- Corrective Actions
Prepare and present daily, weekly and monthly maintenance performance reports to management.

Required Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Additional technical certifications in Maintenance / Engineering will be an advantage.
Experience Required
- 10–15+ years of relevant industrial maintenance experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Head or Engineering Head role.
- Strong experience in a manufacturing, process or continuous production environment.
Preferred Industry Experience
Candidates from the following industries will be preferred:
Paper Coating | Paper Manufacturing | Printing | Converting | Chemical | Textile | Pharmaceutical | Process Manufacturing
Candidates with relevant experience in other continuous or process manufacturing industries may also be considered.

- Basic knowledge of ERP / CMMS and maintenance reporting systems.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be a hands-on Maintenance Leader with strong experience in paper coating, paper manufacturing, converting or other process manufacturing industries.
The candidate should be capable of managing both strategic maintenance planning and critical shop-floor breakdowns, while continuously improving machine reliability, reducing downtime, optimizing maintenance costs and driving equipment improvement initiatives.
