Job Purpose
The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging physical education lessons that promote students' physical fitness, motor skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles. The teacher will foster a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment while encouraging students to participate in sports, recreational activities, and inter-school competitions in alignment with the Cambridge curriculum and the school's vision.
Key Responsibilities1. Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum.
- Develop students' physical fitness, coordination, flexibility, strength, and overall well-being.
- Teach a variety of sports, games, athletics, gymnastics, and fitness activities.
- Adapt lessons to accommodate different learning abilities and physical capabilities.
- Encourage participation, teamwork, leadership, discipline, and fair play.
2. Student Assessment
- Assess students' physical development and skill progression through continuous evaluation.
- Maintain accurate assessment records and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare progress reports and communicate student performance to parents during meetings.
3. Sports & Co-Curricular Activities
- Organize and supervise intra-school and inter-school sports competitions.
- Coach school teams for tournaments and athletic meets.
- Plan annual sports events, sports day, fitness challenges, and recreational activities.
- Identify and nurture talented athletes.
4. Student Safety & Welfare
- Ensure student safety during all physical education classes and sporting events.
- Conduct proper warm-up and cool-down sessions.
- Monitor the condition of sports equipment and facilities.
- Report injuries, accidents, or safety concerns immediately.
5. Classroom & Equipment Management
- Maintain discipline and positive behavior during sports activities.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of sports equipment.
- Keep playgrounds, courts, and sports facilities organized and safe.
6. Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with fellow teachers, coordinators, and school leadership.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student participation and progress.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development programs, and school events.
7. Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain attendance and assessment records.
- Prepare lesson plans and annual curriculum plans.
- Assist in organizing school assemblies, camps, field trips, and special events.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Principal or HOD.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or Master's Degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed.).
- Teaching qualification (B.Ed.) preferred for school teaching.
- Cambridge teaching experience is an added advantage.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification is desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in a reputed school.
- Experience coaching school sports teams and organizing tournaments.
- Experience in Cambridge or other international curricula is preferred.
