Job Description : Assistant Manager – Purchase

Job Summary
The Assistant Manager – Purchase will be responsible for procurement activities related to electrical and railway manufacturing components, ensuring timely availability of materials, cost optimization, vendor development, and compliance with railway and quality standards. The role requires strong coordination with production, planning, quality, and vendors to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle end-to-end procurement of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and railway-related components and raw materials.
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships for cost-effective and timely procurement.
- Float RFQs, evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure proper documentation as per company procedures.
- Coordinate with production and planning teams for material requirements and inventory control.
- Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and compliance.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with railway standards, ISO procedures, and company policies.
- Conduct market research for new suppliers, alternate sourcing, and cost reduction opportunities.
- Follow up with suppliers for timely deliveries and resolve supply-related issues.
- Maintain procurement MIS reports, purchase records, and inventory data.
- Support audit requirements and documentation related to procurement activities.
- Participate in vendor audits and supplier evaluations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain or Materials Management preferred.
Experience
- 4–6 years of experience in purchase/procurement within electrical manufacturing, railway equipment, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
- Experience dealing with railway-approved vendors and industrial procurement processes preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of electrical components, cables, switchgear, panels, connectors, and industrial materials.
- Familiarity with railway procurement standards and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Tally, or similar).
- Good analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and supply chain processes.
- MS Excel and reporting proficiency.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
