About the Program
Playing sports as part of a school sports programme is not just for physical activity but teaches young children many valuable life skills. The Sports for All programme is an initiative that runs in municipal schools. The program fosters love for sports for children, hones motor skills and cultivates a competitive spirit. By nurturing talent from young and providing a platform for competition, the programme empowers children to achieve their sporting potential. Sports coaches engage in activities and strategic games based on the TGFU model (Teaching Games for Understanding) to develop flexibility and agility. This playful approach also helps identify potential talent for specific sports. We also focus towards building competitive teams for age groups Under 14 and Under 16, to participate in school-level tournaments like District Level Sports (DSO) and Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA).
About the Role
The Sports Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the sports program across municipal schools. The role involves developing and ensuring curriculum delivery, optimal utilisation and availability of sports equipment, building competitive school teams to facilitate better participation in tournaments. It requires managing a team of Sports Coaches with the support of sports supervisors, ensuring consistent and quality session delivery and meaningful student engagement.
This role offers the opportunity to use sports as a tool for positive social impact, working directly with underserved communities.
Location: Mumbai.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute sports activities aligned with organizational objectives.
- Ensure structured and consistent delivery of sessions across all municipal schools.
- Monitor, guide, and train a team of sports coaches through supervisors on a regular basis.
- Conduct field visits to observe sessions and provide actionable feedback.
- Ensure coach attendance, punctuality, and overall performance.
- Identify training needs and organise regular training sessions for coaches.
- Plan and execute sports events, competitions, and tournaments.
- Address on-ground challenges affecting program delivery.
- Track progress, participation, and outcomes of the sports program.
Qualification & Experience:
- Graduate in any field. B. Ped / M. PEd will be an added advantage.
- A seasoned player in State or National Level Tournament is preferred.
- A Course/Certification in Sports Management will be an added advantage.
- 4+ years of relevant experience managing a sports program preferably in a school/NGOs.
Skills & Competencies required:
- Sports Enthusiast and passionate about promoting sports education in schools.
- Ability to identify talent on the ground and groom them as per need.
- Strong understanding of competitive sports tournament processes at schools across District, State, and National levels.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel.
Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year
