Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Digital Denture Technician with strong Exocad skills and working knowledge of 3Shape dental software to join our digital dental laboratory workflow remotely.
The technician will be responsible for the digital design, nesting, and production preparation of complete dentures, immediate dentures, and removable prostheses using Exocad, 3Shape, and related CAM software.
The technician must be familiar with both 3D printing and 5-axis milling workflows, including preparation of cases for the Formlabs Form 4B dental 3D printer and dental milling machines.
This is not simply a CAD-design position. The successful candidate must understand the complete digital production workflow from case design through nesting, CAM preparation, printing, and milling.
Responsibilities
- Design complete upper and lower dentures using Exocad DentalCAD/Denture Module
- Work with 3Shape dental design and laboratory software
- Import, review, and manage cases originating from 3Shape scanners and software
- Design immediate dentures
- Set up denture teeth digitally with appropriate:
- Occlusion
- Overjet and overbite
- Midline
- Smile line
- Tooth position and angulation
- Arch form
- Esthetics
- Design denture bases with appropriate:
- Borders and extensions
- Base thickness
- Relief
- Tissue adaptation
- Tooth sockets and bonding interfaces
- Design dentures for separate fabrication of the denture base and denture teeth
- Prepare designs for both 3D printing and CNC milling
- Perform nesting of dental restorations and denture components
- Properly orient and position parts for printing and milling
- Prepare dental cases for printing on the Formlabs Form 4B
- Use Formlabs PreForm for print setup, orientation, support generation, and production preparation
- Understand resin selection and appropriate Form 4B printing workflows for dental applications
- Operate or prepare cases using dental CAM software for 5-axis milling machines
- Select appropriate milling strategies, tools, materials, and blank/disc positioning
- Nest denture bases, denture teeth, temporary restorations, and other dental components within milling discs or blocks
- Understand sprue placement, milling margins, part orientation, and material utilization
- Review CAM simulations and identify potential milling problems before production
- Work with intraoral scans, model scans, impression scans, and digital bite records
- Import and manage STL and other digital dental files
- Review cases for incomplete or questionable records before proceeding
- Communicate clearly when additional records, bite information, or corrections are required
- Make design modifications based on dentist feedback
- Maintain organized digital case files
- Complete cases within established turnaround times
- Follow standardized design and manufacturing protocols to maintain consistency across cases
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience using Exocad DentalCAD
- Experience with the Exocad Full Denture/Denture Module
- Working knowledge of 3Shape dental software
- Ability to work with digital cases generated through 3Shape systems
- Strong knowledge of complete denture design and fabrication
- Understanding of denture occlusion and tooth arrangement
- Ability to design dentures independently from digital records
- Experience preparing STL files for digital manufacturing
- Experience with nesting and dental CAM software
- Familiarity with the Formlabs Form 4B
- Working knowledge of Formlabs PreForm
- Understanding of Form 4B print setup, orientation, support generation, resin selection, and production preparation
- Experience preparing cases for 5-axis dental milling
- Understanding of milling discs, blocks, burs, tool paths, sprues, and nesting
- Ability to review CAM simulations and identify potential production problems
- Understanding of 3D-printed and milled denture workflows
- Reliable high-speed internet connection
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Strong written communication skills

Technical Requirements
Applicants should have access to a computer capable of efficiently running Exocad, 3Shape, and relevant digital dental software and must be comfortable exchanging large digital dental files electronically.
Access to a properly licensed version of Exocad and/or 3Shape software is preferred. Applicants should specify which Exocad, 3Shape, nesting, CAM, Formlabs, and 3D-printing software they currently use.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced denture technician who has transitioned into digital dentistry and understands both traditional denture principles and the complete modern CAD/CAM manufacturing workflow.
The technician should be capable of taking a case through the entire digital production process:
Digital scan → Exocad or 3Shape design → nesting → CAM/PreForm preparation → Formlabs Form 4B printing or 5-axis milling.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can look at a digital denture case and recognize when something is clinically or technically wrong rather than simply completing the CAD design.
Accuracy, consistency, communication, material utilization, and dependable turnaround times are more important than designing cases as quickly as possible.
