Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator
Position Summary
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator provides strategic and instructional leadership for the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme. The Coordinator ensures alignment with IB standards and practices while fostering a collaborative culture of inquiry, innovation, and continuous improvement. The role includes mentoring and training teachers, strengthening instructional practices, engaging with parents, and supporting school leadership in achieving excellence in teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities1. Programme Leadership
- Lead the implementation, monitoring, and continuous development of the PYP across the school.
- Ensure the curriculum aligns with the IB PYP framework and the school's vision and mission.
- Develop, review, and coordinate the Programme of Inquiry (POI), ensuring vertical and horizontal articulation.
- Monitor the quality of teaching and learning through classroom observations, planning meetings, and instructional support.
- Promote a culture of inquiry, international-mindedness, and student agency throughout the school.
2. Curriculum and Assessment
- Guide teachers in planning, implementing, and reflecting on inquiry-based and concept-driven learning experiences.
- Ensure assessment practices are aligned with IB principles and school assessment policies.
- Coordinate curriculum review, documentation, and curriculum mapping.
- Facilitate moderation of student work and collaborative review of assessment practices.
- Support the integration of transdisciplinary learning across all grade levels.
3. Teacher Training and Instructional Coaching
- Design, plan, and facilitate ongoing professional development programmes aligned with IB PYP philosophy and pedagogy.
- Conduct induction and orientation programmes for new teachers.
- Coach and mentor teachers in inquiry-based learning, concept-based teaching, assessment practices, differentiation, and student agency.
- Facilitate collaborative planning meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and reflective practice sessions.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback to improve teaching effectiveness.
- Identify professional learning needs and develop targeted capacity-building initiatives.
- Support teachers in integrating the IB Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning (ATL), conceptual understanding, and international-mindedness into classroom practice.
- Organize workshops, demonstration lessons, peer observations, and sharing of best practices.
- Encourage reflective practice, action research, and innovation in teaching and learning.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of professional development initiatives on teaching quality and student learning outcomes.
4. Collaboration and School Improvement
- Foster collaboration among classroom teachers, specialist teachers, and school leadership.
- Promote interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Participate in strategic planning and whole-school improvement initiatives.
- Support the implementation of school policies related to curriculum, assessment, and teaching and learning.
5. IB Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with IB standards, practices, and programme requirements.
- Coordinate the school's IB authorization, evaluation, and programme development processes.
- Maintain programme documentation and evidence required for IB verification and evaluation.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the school and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
- Monitor programme implementation and recommend improvements based on IB expectations and school goals.
6. Parent and Community Engagement
- Organize parent orientation sessions and workshops to build understanding of the PYP philosophy.
- Communicate programme developments, curriculum updates, and student learning with parents and the wider school community.
- Promote awareness of the IB Learner Profile and inquiry-based education through school events and communications.
- Build strong partnerships with parents to support student learning and development.
7. Student Development
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Support initiatives that promote student leadership, agency, action, and service.
- Encourage holistic development by nurturing academic, social, emotional, and intercultural competencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- IB PYP professional development or certification preferred.
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB PYP school.
- Previous experience in curriculum leadership, programme coordination, or instructional coaching is desirable.

Working Conditions
- Full-time academic leadership position.
- Participation in school events, professional development, and IB-related meetings as required.
- Occasional travel for IB workshops, conferences, and networking events may be required.
Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
