Job Title: Radiological Safety Officer (RSO) – AERB Approved
Job Purpose:
To oversee and implement the organization’s radiological safety program and ensure full compliance with Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) regulations for the safe use, handling, transport, and disposal of radioactive materials or radiation-generating equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the AERB-approved Radiological Safety Officer for the facility.
- Ensure strict compliance with AERB guidelines and other applicable national and international radiation safety standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s Radiation Protection Program (RPP).
- Coordinate with AERB and BARC for licensing, renewals, audits, and compliance inspections.
- Supervise the safe handling, transport, and disposal of radioactive sources and radiation-generating equipment.
- Conduct safety training and awareness sessions for employees working with radiation.
- Investigate and report any incident, overexposure, or non-compliance related to radiological safety.
- Ensure timely calibration and maintenance of radiation monitoring instruments and dosimetry devices.
- Advise management on safety improvements and regulatory updates.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Radiological Physics, or Medical Physics (from a recognized institution).
- AERB-approved Radiological Safety Officer (RSO) certification (mandatory).
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in radiation safety or operation of radiation facilities.
- Familiarity with AERB Codes, Safety Manuals, and BARC protocols.
