Job Summary
The EEG Technician is responsible for performing electroencephalography (EEG) procedures to assist neurologists in diagnosing and monitoring neurological disorders. The technician ensures accurate recording of brain electrical activity while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for EEG procedures by explaining the procedure and obtaining informed cooperation.
- Verify patient identity and clinical details before the procedure.
- Apply EEG electrodes according to the International 10–20 Electrode Placement System.
- Perform routine EEG, sleep EEG, ambulatory EEG, bedside EEG, and emergency EEG studies as required.
- Monitor patients throughout the procedure and recognize artifacts that may affect test quality.
- Conduct activation procedures such as hyperventilation and photic stimulation under physician protocols.
- Ensure accurate recording of EEG data and maintain high-quality diagnostic standards.
- Assist neurologists during specialized neurodiagnostic procedures when required.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
Equipment Management
- Operate EEG machines and associated neurodiagnostic equipment.
- Perform routine calibration and functional checks of EEG equipment.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly and coordinate repairs with the Biomedical Engineering Department.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of EEG equipment and accessories.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records and procedure documentation.
- Upload and archive EEG recordings in the Hospital Information System (HIS) or PACS, where applicable.
- Prepare daily procedure logs and departmental reports.
- Maintain records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Infection Prevention & Safety
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols.
- Adhere to biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Ensure electrical safety during all procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Quality & Compliance
- Follow hospital policies, departmental SOPs, and NABH/JCI quality standards (where applicable).
- Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education programs.
- Attend mandatory training programs and emergency response drills.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Neurophysiology Technology, EEG Technology, or Allied Health Sciences.
- Certification in EEG Technology is preferred.
Experience
- 0–2 years: Junior EEG Technician
- 2–5 years: EEG Technician
- Experience in a hospital Neurology Department is preferred.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
