Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to lead a team of assembly technicians in the production of precision sub-assemblies used in flexographic printing machines. The role involves supervising day-to-day assembly activities, ensuring quality and productivity targets, and establishing standardized assembly processes for both existing and newly introduced sub-assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, guide, and supervise a team of assembly technicians.
- Allocate tasks and ensure optimal utilization of manpower.
- Monitor daily production targets and ensure timely completion of sub-assemblies.
- Train and mentor technicians to improve skill levels and efficiency.
2. Assembly Operations Management
- Oversee mechanical sub-assembly activities such as gearboxes, rollers, frames, pneumatic assemblies, etc.
- Ensure adherence to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with stores and planning teams to ensure availability of materials.
3. Process Development & Standardization
- Develop and document assembly processes, SOPs, and work instructions for new sub-assemblies.
- Define tools, fixtures, and methods required for efficient assembly.
- Establish standard cycle times and optimize assembly workflows.
- Implement best practices for repeatability and quality consistency.
4. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all sub-assemblies meet required quality standards before moving to final assembly.
- Work closely with cross function teams to resolve assembly-related issues.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring problems.
5. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improving productivity, reducing assembly time, and minimizing rework.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Participate in design reviews to provide feedback from an assembly perspective.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain production records, assembly logs, and process documentation.
- Report daily/weekly production status to management.
- Track KPIs such as productivity, rejection rates, and on-time completion.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in mechanical assembly, preferably in machine manufacturing or automation equipment.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a supervisory role.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly processes and engineering drawings.
- Hands-on experience with tools, fixtures, and precision assembly.
- Ability to develop SOPs and structured assembly processes.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Problem-solving and root cause analysis capability.
- Familiarity with pneumatic systems, gear mechanisms, and rotating equipment.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, ERP systems).
Preferred Skills
- Experience in printing machinery or similar capital equipment manufacturing.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, etc.).
- Knowledge of tolerance stack-up and alignment procedures.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- On-time completion of sub-assemblies.
- First-pass yield / reduction in rework.
- Productivity per technician.
- Process standardization for new assemblies.
- Team skill development and retention.
Work Environment
- Shop floor / manufacturing environment.
- May involve working with mechanical tools.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹33,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
