The Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of bakery production equipment, utilities, and facility systems. The role ensures smooth operation of machinery, minimizes downtime, maintains food safety standards, and supports continuous bakery production.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of bakery equipment including mixers, dough dividers, dough sheeters, proofers, ovens, cooling conveyors, slicers, packaging machines, and conveyors.
- Attend machine breakdowns promptly and restore equipment to operational condition.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults and carry out repairs.
- Assist in equipment installation, commissioning, and modification activities.
Preventive Maintenance
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules as directed by the Maintenance Engineer.
- Conduct regular inspections and lubrication of machinery and equipment.
- Replace worn or damaged components to prevent unexpected failures.
- Maintain maintenance checklists and service records.
Utilities Maintenance
- Support maintenance of utilities such as air compressors, refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, generators, electrical panels, water pumps, and lighting systems.
- Monitor utility performance and report abnormalities.
Food Safety & Hygiene Compliance
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment, and maintenance work areas.
- Follow hygienic maintenance practices to prevent product contamination.
- Support food safety and quality audits.
Spare Parts Management
- Assist in maintaining inventory of maintenance tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Report spare part requirements to supervisors.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of maintenance materials.
Safety Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE during maintenance activities.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions and equipment hazards.
- Participate in safety training and emergency response activities.
- Ensure lockout/tagout procedures are followed during maintenance work.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately.
- Complete work orders and maintenance reports on time.
- Report recurring equipment issues to the Maintenance Engineer.
- Maintain records of spare parts used during repairs.
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Maintenance.
- 2–5 years of maintenance experience in bakery, food processing, FMCG, or manufacturing industries.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience working with bakery production equipment is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Work in a bakery production environment with exposure to heat, moving machinery, refrigeration systems, and packaging lines.
- May be required to work shifts, weekends, and emergency call-outs.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
