Job Summary
The Assistant Professor/Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, mentoring students, contributing to curriculum development, supporting research and innovation, and participating in departmental and institutional academic activities. The faculty member is expected to maintain academic excellence while fostering industry-oriented learning and student development.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering as per the university curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and course files.
- Conduct lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and practical classes.
- Evaluate students through assignments, quizzes, internal assessments, practical examinations, and semester examinations.
- Maintain attendance, academic records, and student performance reports.
- Guide students in academic projects, internships, and research activities.
- Mentor students regarding academic and career development.
Research and Development
- Publish research papers in reputed national and international journals.
- Apply for funded research projects, patents, and consultancy assignments.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, and Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs).
- Encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary research among students.
Laboratory and Departmental Responsibilities
- Supervise laboratories and ensure the proper utilization and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist in laboratory development, procurement of equipment, and accreditation documentation.
- Prepare laboratory manuals and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and laboratory protocols.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and academic planning.
- Assist in NBA, NAAC, AICTE, and university accreditation processes.
- Support admissions, student orientation, examinations, placements, and institutional events.
- Maintain departmental documentation and reports as required.
Industry Interaction
- Establish collaborations with industries for internships, training, guest lectures, industrial visits, and consultancy.
- Encourage students to participate in technical competitions and industry certifications.
- Support placement and career development initiatives.
Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with First Class.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred/Essential as per regulatory norms).
- Qualifications should be as per AICTE/UGC/University norms.
Experience
- Freshers with excellent academic records may apply for Lecturer/Assistant Professor positions.
- Prior teaching, research, or industry experience will be preferred.
- Experience in outcome-based education (OBE), NBA/NAAC processes, and academic administration is desirable.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of core Mechanical Engineering subjects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and mentoring abilities.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary academic environment.
