Full Job Description
We are looking for a Lighting Design Engineer (CAD Engineer – Automotive Lighting) with hands-on experience in designing automotive lighting systems such as headlamps and rear lamps. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in CATIA V5, plastic component design, and automotive product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive lighting components from concept to production.
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5.
- Ensure designs are manufacturable, considering plastic injection molding and tooling constraints.
- Develop mounting features, ribs, clips, locators, and harness routing.
- Support Class-A surface (CAS) integration and design refinement.
- Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-up, and basic validation activities.
- Participate in design reviews and resolve design issues.
- Manage CAD data using PLM/PDM tools.
- Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to meet project milestones.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Product Design.
- 3–5 years of experience in automotive lighting or plastic component design.
- Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 (Part Design, Assembly, Drafting).
- Knowledge of plastic part design, injection molding, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Understanding of tooling feasibility and automotive manufacturing processes.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with headlamp or rear lamp design.
- Knowledge of LED integration and automotive lighting architecture.
- Exposure to Class-A surface data handling.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter, ENOVIA, or similar PLM tools.
- Understanding of DFMEA, DFM, and DFA.
- Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 automotive suppliers.
