The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall management of the textile business, with complete ownership of its commercial and operational performance. The role carries end-to-end responsibility for sales, marketing, business development, customer relationship management, production, quality, procurement, maintenance, inventory, finance, and administration. The COO will drive revenue growth, profitability, operational excellence, and business expansion while ensuring the efficient functioning of the manufacturing unit and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and statutory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Sales, Marketing & Business Development
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to achieve revenue, profitability, and market share objectives.
- Drive business growth by identifying new customers, distributors, dealers, institutional buyers, exporters, and strategic channel partners.
- Expand the company's presence across domestic and international markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers to ensure long-term business partnerships.
- Prepare and implement annual sales plans, business development strategies, and market expansion initiatives.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging industry trends, customer requirements, pricing strategies, and competitor activities.
- Coordinate product launches, promotional campaigns, exhibitions, trade fairs, and customer engagement programs.
- Monitor sales performance, customer acquisition, and market penetration while implementing corrective actions to achieve business targets.
- Explore opportunities for product diversification, new business segments, export markets, and institutional sales.
Operations & Production
- Provide strategic leadership for the overall operations of the textile manufacturing unit.
- Develop and implement production plans aligned with customer demand and business requirements.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, and production resources.
- Improve productivity, operational efficiency, and manufacturing effectiveness.
- Monitor production schedules to ensure timely execution of customer orders.
- Minimize wastage and reduce manufacturing costs through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure preventive maintenance of plant and machinery to minimize downtime.
Production Planning & Process Improvement
- Develop production schedules based on sales forecasts and customer commitments.
- Monitor production KPIs and implement corrective actions where required.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, TPM, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, increase capacity, and reduce lead times.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all products consistently meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Implement and maintain quality management systems across manufacturing operations.
- Investigate customer complaints and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain compliance with applicable quality certifications and industry standards.
Procurement & Inventory Management
- Oversee procurement of raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and packaging materials.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of materials while maintaining optimum inventory levels.
- Negotiate with suppliers to optimize costs without compromising quality.
- Monitor inventory turnover and minimize carrying costs.
Financial Management
- Own the overall P&L of the textile business and ensure sustainable profitability.
- Prepare and manage annual operating budgets and business plans.
- Monitor manufacturing costs, operational expenses, cash flow, and profitability.
- Ensure achievement of revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, and business growth targets.
- Review MIS reports and drive strategic initiatives to improve financial performance.
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams across production, maintenance, quality, procurement, stores, sales, marketing, finance, HR, and administration.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Drive performance management, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
- Identify organizational capability gaps and implement talent development programs.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strategic relationships with key customers, suppliers, distributors, and business partners.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through timely service and proactive issue resolution.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure customer commitments are consistently met.
- Represent the organization during customer meetings, strategic negotiations, industry forums, and trade exhibitions.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, labour, environmental, and safety regulations.
- Promote best manufacturing practices, operational governance, and corporate policies.
- Drive organizational risk management and ensure adherence to quality and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Textile Technology, Textile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline.
- MBA in Operations, Marketing, General Management, or a related discipline is highly preferred.
Experience
- 15–20 years of progressive experience in the textile industry, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role overseeing both manufacturing and commercial operations.
- Proven experience managing textile businesses involving weaving, knitting, dyeing, processing, garment manufacturing, home textiles, or related sectors.
- Strong track record in sales, marketing, business development, operations, and P&L management.
- Demonstrated ability to scale businesses, improve profitability, optimize manufacturing operations, and lead large cross-functional teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of textile manufacturing processes, supply chain management, domestic and international sales, channel management, and business strategy.
Pay: ₹120,000.00 - ₹170,000.00 per month
