Job Description: MERN Stack Developer

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated MERN Stack Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications. You will work across the entire stack — from database architecture to user-facing interfaces — collaborating closely with product, design, and QA teams to deliver high-quality software.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop responsive web applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services
- Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code following best practices
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate designs into functional interfaces
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and security
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups (Agile/Scrum)
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in a timely manner
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality
- Manage database schemas, queries, and performance tuning in MongoDB
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and suggest improvements to existing systems
- Collaborate with DevOps for CI/CD pipeline setup and deployment
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- X+ years of experience in full-stack web development (adjust based on level — e.g., 2+ for mid-level, 4+ for senior)
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with:
- MongoDB (schema design, aggregation pipelines)
- Express.js (API development, middleware)
- React.js (hooks, context API, component architecture, state management with Redux/Zustand)
- Node.js (asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture)
- Experience with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub version control workflows
- Understanding of authentication/authorization (JWT, OAuth)
- Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design frameworks (Tailwind, Bootstrap)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines is a plus
- Basic understanding of testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Cypress)
Good to Have
- Experience with Next.js
- Knowledge of microservices architecture
- Exposure to WebSockets/Socket.io for real-time applications
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Prior experience in a startup environment
