The Textile Merchandiser/ Production Manager is responsible for managing customer orders from enquiry to shipment while ensuring smooth production planning, timely delivery, quality compliance, and effective coordination between customers, suppliers, and the production team. The role requires strong communication, planning, costing, and production management skills to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandising
- Handle customer enquiries, quotations, and order confirmations.
- Prepare costing sheets and product pricing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international buyers.
- Coordinate product development and sampling activities.
- Follow up with buyers regarding approvals, revisions, and order status.
- Prepare purchase orders and production work orders.
- Monitor order timelines to ensure on-time delivery.
- Maintain merchandising records and customer communication.
Production Planning
- Prepare production schedules based on delivery commitments.
- Allocate orders to weaving, dyeing, stitching, finishing, and packing departments.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower and machinery.
- Monitor production progress daily.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with maintenance to minimize machine downtime.
Material Planning
- Forecast raw material requirements based on confirmed orders.
- Coordinate with the purchase department for timely procurement.
- Monitor fabric, trims, accessories, and packaging material availability.
- Prevent production delays due to material shortages.
Production Coordination
Coordinate with:

- Weaving Department

- Ensure each department meets scheduled production targets.
- Monitor work-in-progress across all production stages.
Quality Management
- Ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Coordinate inspections during each production stage.

Inventory Management
- Monitor fabric inventory and finished goods.
- Reduce wastage during production.
- Track material consumption against standards.
- Ensure proper stock movement documentation.
Shipment Coordination
- Coordinate with logistics and export documentation teams.
- Ensure production completion before shipment deadlines.
- Verify packing lists and shipment quantities.
- Coordinate dispatch schedules.
Team Management
- Supervise production supervisors and merchandising staff.
- Assign daily production targets.
- Monitor employee productivity.
- Conduct daily production review meetings.
- Train team members on processes and quality standards.

Qualifications

- Experience in home textiles, apparel, or fabric manufacturing is preferred.
- Knowledge of export documentation and international buyer requirements is an advantage.
