Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist – Product Evaluation to lead and execute scientific research trials across laboratory, greenhouse, and field environments. The role involves designing experiments, evaluating agronomic performance, analyzing research data, and generating scientific reports while ensuring adherence to standardized research protocols and quality systems. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, data-driven insights that support research and development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Research Trial Management Design, plan, and execute laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments using scientifically sound experimental designs.
Ensure proper randomization, replication, treatment allocation, and statistical validity of all trials.
Coordinate trial execution across multiple locations while maintaining uniform research protocols.
Monitor trial progress and ensure timely completion of all scheduled activities.
Scientific Evaluation:
Evaluate treatment performance using various application methods, including:
o Foliar application o Soil application
o Seed treatment o Fertigation
Record morphological, physiological, yield, and quality parameters throughout the trial period.
Ensure accurate observation and documentation of experimental results.
Laboratory Analysis:
Perform post-harvest and laboratory evaluations, including:
Titratable Acidity
Total Soluble Solids (Brix)
Lycopene
Ascorbic Acid
Proline
Antioxidant Enzyme Activity
Other biochemical and physiological analyses as required.
Data Management & Statistical Analysis:
Verify the completeness, consistency, and accuracy of research data.
Perform statistical analysis using:
o ANOVA
o DMRT
o Coefficient of Variation (CV%)
Interpret research findings and prepare scientific conclusions.
Maintain organized experimental records and research databases.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare comprehensive technical reports summarizing:
o Experimental observations
o Crop performance
o Treatment responses
o Yield and quality parameters
o Economic analysis
Maintain proper documentation in accordance with internal quality standards.
Present periodic research updates and recommendations to management.
Greenhouse & Field Operations
Supervise greenhouse and field staff during trial execution.
Ensure proper crop maintenance and implementation of experimental protocols.
Monitor plant health and environmental conditions throughout the research period.
Maintain trial sites in compliance with scientific standards.
Department Coordination
Coordinate with R&D, laboratory, field operations, and management teams.
Conduct regular departmental meetings to review research progress and data quality.
Track action items and ensure timely completion of assigned activities.
Support smooth day-to-day functioning of the department. Process Improvement
Develop standardized crop-wise research protocols and trial methodologies.
Recommend improvements in experimental procedures, data collection, and reporting systems.
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety practices and analytical quality standards.
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of agronomy, plant pathology, crop physiology, and experimental research.
Hands-on experience in laboratory, greenhouse, and field trial management.
Knowledge of experimental designs and statistical analysis.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and scientific reporting skills.
Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously.
