Looking for an experienced Welder to carry out fabrication, repair, and maintenance welding work at our solvent manufacturing plant, including piping, tanks, and structural jobs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out welding and fabrication of pipelines, tanks, vessels, platforms, and structural supports
- Perform repair welding on process equipment, piping, and storage tanks as required
- Work with various welding processes — Arc (SMAW), TIG, MIG/MAG — as per job requirement
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, and welding job cards
- Carry out cutting, grinding, and fit-up work prior to welding
- Ensure welding quality as per applicable standards (visual inspection, DPT/hydro test coordination as required)
- Work on stainless steel, carbon steel, and MS as per job specification
- Strictly follow hot work permit system before undertaking any welding job in the plant (mandatory in solvent-handling areas)
- Ensure fire watch/fire extinguisher availability and area clearance (gas testing) before starting hot work near hazardous zones
- Use proper PPE — welding helmet, gloves, apron, safety shoes — at all times
- Maintain housekeeping of the welding/fabrication work area
- Assist during plant shutdowns/turnarounds for major fabrication and repair jobs
- Coordinate with Maintenance/Production teams for job planning and equipment isolation before welding
Requirements
- ITI (Welder Trade) or equivalent
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial welding/fabrication, preferably in a chemical, pharma, or process industry
- Hands-on experience with Arc, TIG, and/or MIG welding
- Ability to read fabrication/welding drawings
- Understanding of hot work permit and safety procedures in a hazardous chemical plant environment
- Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces/heights as required
