The Dialysis Technician is responsible for preparing, operating, and maintaining dialysis equipment, assisting in hemodialysis procedures, monitoring patients during treatment, and ensuring adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols. The role involves providing quality care and support to patients undergoing dialysis treatment.
- Prepare patients for dialysis treatment by recording vital signs and assessing general condition.
- Assist patients before, during, and after dialysis procedures.
- Monitor patients throughout dialysis sessions and report any complications or abnormalities to the nephrologist or nursing staff.
- Ensure patient comfort and provide emotional support during treatment.
- Set up and operate dialysis machines according to prescribed treatment plans.
- Prime dialysis circuits and prepare dialyzers before treatment.
- Initiate, monitor, and terminate dialysis treatments as per protocol.
- Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation.
- Perform routine checks, calibration, and preventive maintenance of dialysis machines.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate repairs when required.
- Ensure adequate availability of dialysis consumables and supplies.
- Maintain water treatment systems and monitor water quality parameters.
- Follow hospital infection control policies and dialysis unit protocols.
- Ensure proper sterilization and disinfection of equipment and treatment areas.
- Adhere to biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Follow patient safety standards and emergency response procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient treatment records and machine logs.
- Document dialysis parameters, patient observations, and adverse events.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Diploma/B.Sc. in Dialysis Technology or Renal Dialysis Technology.
- Certification in Dialysis Technology preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is an added advantage
