Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Techno-Commercial Engineer to support tendering, estimation, costing, and techno-commercial proposal preparation for structural steel fabrication, transmission line tower, substation structure, and infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in analyzing tender documents, engineering drawings, BOQs, technical specifications, cost estimation, vendor enquiries, and bid preparation. The role requires close coordination with the Design, Procurement, Production, and Project teams to ensure accurate and competitive bid submissions.
This role primarily follows the workflow:
Tender Identification → Tender Analysis → BOQ Verification → Cost Estimation → Vendor Enquiry → Techno-Commercial Proposal → Bid Submission → Tender Follow-up
Key Responsibilities
1. Tendering & Technical Evaluation
- Study tender documents, technical specifications, BOQs, engineering drawings, and client requirements.
- Analyze tender conditions and identify technical and commercial requirements.
- Prepare technical compliance statements and technical bid documents.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and respond to technical queries.
- Coordinate with Design and Production teams for technical inputs and project feasibility.
2. Estimation & Costing
- Prepare detailed cost estimates based on drawings, BOQs, and project specifications.
- Estimate material, fabrication, machining, galvanizing, transportation, and erection costs.
- Perform quantity take-offs from engineering drawings.
- Prepare cost sheets, pricing calculations, and bid summaries.
- Ensure competitive and accurate pricing for tender submissions.
3. Commercial Activities
- Prepare techno-commercial offers and bid proposals.
- Float enquiries to vendors and subcontractors.
- Compare vendor quotations and conduct commercial evaluations.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Finance teams for commercial approvals.
- Support contract review, negotiations, and commercial discussions.
4. Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate with Sales, Design, Procurement, Production, QA/QC, and Project teams.
- Maintain tender registers, costing records, quotation history, and proposal documentation.
- Monitor tender submission schedules and follow up on bid status.
- Maintain organized documentation for future reference and audits.
5. Reporting & Business Support
- Prepare estimation reports, tender status reports, and MIS for management.
- Monitor pending tenders and submission deadlines.
- Support management with business proposals and project cost analysis.
- Assist project teams with variation costing and commercial support during project execution.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of tendering and estimation processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Experience in structural steel estimation and fabrication costing.
- Good understanding of transmission line towers, substation structures, and industrial fabrication projects.
- Knowledge of material costing, vendor comparison, and commercial evaluation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Advanced Excel preferred), Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to prepare technical and commercial proposals independently.
- Knowledge of relevant Indian Standards (IS Codes) and tender documentation will be an added advantage.
Eligibility CriteriaEducation
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, or Production Engineering.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience may also be considered.
