The Technical Field Engineer is responsible for on-site installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking and surveillance systems at client locations. The role involves hands-on field work including networking setup, CCTV installation, cable laying, and resolving technical issues. The position requires regular travel, site visits, and occasional tower work when required.
Key Responsibilities1. Installation & Configuration
- Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment such as routers, switches, and wireless devices.
- Install and configure CCTV camera systems, DVR/NVR units, and surveillance networks.
- Perform LAN cable laying, fiber or network cable routing, and proper termination.
- Ensure all installations follow company standards and safety guidelines.
2. Technical Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to LAN, WAN, wireless networks, and CCTV systems.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues, network failures, and equipment malfunctions.
- Escalate complex technical problems to senior engineers when necessary.
3. Field Support & Site Visits
- Provide on-site technical support at customer locations.
- Conduct installations, system upgrades, and maintenance visits.
- Travel within and outside the city for installation and troubleshooting work.
4. Tower Work (When Required)
- In certain cases, the engineer may need to climb communication towers to install or maintain wireless equipment.
- All tower work must be performed using proper safety equipment and tools provided by the company.
- Additional incentives will be provided for tower climbing work as per company policy.
5. Client Communication
- Communicate with clients to understand issues and provide technical solutions.
- Provide basic training or guidance to clients on system usage and maintenance.
- Maintain professional relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of installations, service visits, and technical issues resolved.
- Prepare service reports and update internal tracking systems.
- Document troubleshooting procedures and installation details.
7. Preventive Maintenance
- Perform routine checks on networking equipment and CCTV systems to ensure stable operation.
- Identify potential issues and resolve them before they affect service.
QualificationsEducational Background
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Networking, or any related technical field.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of LAN, WAN, and wireless networking
- Understanding of IP addressing and subnetting
- Experience with CCTV installation and configuration
- Knowledge of network cable laying, termination, and basic electrical tools
- Basic understanding of CCNA or networking fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and client-handling abilities
Requirements
- Must have own bike for field visits.
- Must have own laptop for technical work and reporting.
- Willingness to travel within and outside the city for installations and support.
- Comfortable with field work including cable laying, equipment installation, and occasional tower climbing.
Working Hours
- 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM, additional hours may be required depending on project or client needs.
