Job Title: Mechanical & Metallurgical Testing Engineer

Education: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Materials Engineering
Position Overview- We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Metallurgical Testing Engineer/Technician to join our Quality Control and Materials Testing Laboratory. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in destructively and non-destructively evaluating metallic materials, performing failure analyses, operating laboratory testing equipment, and ensuring compliance with international standard specifications (ASTM, ISO, ASME, EN).
Key Responsibilities
* Mechanical Testing: Prepare specimens and perform Tensile, Compression, Hardness (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers), Impact (Charpy/Izod), Bend, and Shear testing on raw materials, forgings, castings, and weldments.
* Metallurgical Evaluation: Perform microstructural examination, grain size estimation, phase analysis, inclusion rating, and macro-etch examination using optical microscopes and image analysis software.
* Sample Preparation: Oversee precision sample cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing, and chemical etching according to standard test methods.
* Failure Analysis: Assist in root-cause failure investigations using fractography, metallography, and mechanical properties evaluation.
* Calibration & Maintenance: Ensure laboratory test equipment, load cells, hardness testers, and optical systems are calibrated, maintained, and operated safely.
* Documentation & Compliance: Generate detailed test reports, maintain lab records, analyze test data, and ensure strict adherence to ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory management standards and HSE guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Education: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Materials Science.
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on working experience in a material testing laboratory, manufacturing plant QA/QC, or third-party inspection lab.
* Technical Expertise: Proficient in ASTM (e.g., E8, E23, E384, E112, E3), ISO, and ASME standards.
* Skills: Strong understanding of heat treatment processes, metal phase diagrams, weld testing procedures (WPS/PQR), and equipment maintenance.
* Computer Literacy: Proficient in MS Office, LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems), and image processing tools.
