Job Title: Faculty – Fashion Design Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fashion Design Faculty member to educate, mentor, and inspire students in fashion design, garment construction, textiles, fashion illustration, and industry practices. The candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging classroom instruction, guiding practical projects, and supporting students' academic and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lectures, practical sessions, and workshops in fashion design.
- Teach subjects such as:
- Fashion Illustration
- Garment Construction
- Pattern Making & Draping
- Textile Science
- CAD for Fashion Design
- Fashion Merchandising
- Fashion Styling
- Portfolio Development
- Develop lesson plans and course materials aligned with the curriculum.
- Evaluate student assignments, projects, and examinations.
- Mentor students in design collections, exhibitions, and competitions.
- Guide final-year projects and portfolios.
- Organize fashion shows, workshops, seminars, and industry interactions.
- Stay updated with current fashion trends, technology, and sustainable practices.
- Collaborate with industry professionals for guest lectures and internships.
- Maintain academic records and ensure timely completion of syllabus.
- Participate in curriculum development and accreditation activities.
- Support admissions, student counseling, and placement initiatives.
- Contribute to research, publications, and institutional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design (minimum requirement).
- Master's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Apparel Design, or a related field (preferred).
- NET/SET/PhD (preferred for university positions).
Experience
- 2–5 years of teaching or industry experience (Assistant Faculty).
- 5–10 years for Senior Faculty/Assistant Professor roles.
- Experience in fashion institutes or apparel industry is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of fashion design principles.
- Expertise in pattern making, draping, and garment construction.
- Proficiency in fashion illustration (manual and digital).
- Knowledge of fashion CAD software such as:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- CorelDRAW
- CLO 3D (preferred)
- Gerber/Optitex/Lectra (preferred)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Student mentoring and classroom management abilities.
- Creativity, innovation, and trend awareness.
