We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Laser Marking and Gold Assaying Lab Technician to join our team at Shree Divvyana Hallmarking Centre. The ideal candidate will handle a dual responsibility: conducting precise laboratory testing (assaying) to determine gold purity and operating advanced laser marking machines to engrave Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) numbers on verified jewelry.Key ResponsibilitiesAssaying & Lab Operations:
- Perform fire assaying (cupellation) and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) testing to accurately determine the fineness and purity of gold items.
- Handle core assaying steps including sampling, weighing with micro-balances, cupellation, parting, and final calculations.
- Prepare chemical reagents and maintain the required laboratory environment for accurate testing.
- Ensure full compliance with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) regulations throughout the testing process.
Laser Marking & Engraving:
- Operate and maintain laser marking machines specifically for HUID engraving on gold and silver articles.
- Ensure high-quality, legible engraving of HUID numbers and hallmarking logos as per official BIS guidelines.
- Inspect jewelry pieces before and after engraving to prevent damage and ensure aesthetic standards.
Documentation & Maintenance:
- Maintain precise records of assaying results, weight measurements, and laser-engraved items for tracking and audit compliance.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues with XRF machines, balances, and laser engraving equipment.
- Follow strict safety protocols, including proper ventilation and handling of hazardous chemicals/acids, while maintaining a clean workspace.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience working in a BIS-recognized assaying and hallmarking center is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with gold assaying methods (Fire Assay/XRF) and operating laser engraving software.
- Precision: High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a steady hand for handling expensive precious metals.
- Competency: Basic computer skills for data entry, software operations, and generation of HUID numbers.
Pay: ₹13,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
