Job Summary
We are seeking a highly strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the organization's financial planning, governance, compliance, and business strategy. The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in corporate finance along with exposure to the nonprofit/NGO sector, ensuring effective financial management across multiple projects, grants, CSR partnerships, and business verticals.
The CFO will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, auditors, donors, CSR partners, government authorities, and senior leadership to strengthen financial sustainability, transparency, compliance, and long-term organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
· Develop and execute the organization's financial strategy aligned with overall business and social impact objectives.
· Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and senior leadership on financial planning and business decisions.
· Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
· Drive financial sustainability through efficient resource allocation and cost optimization.
Financial Planning & Budget Management
· Prepare annual operating budgets, project budgets, and capital expenditure plans.
· Monitor organizational cash flow and working capital requirements.
· Review financial performance against budgets and recommend corrective actions.
· Develop financial models for expansion, new initiatives, and fundraising projects.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
· Ensure accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
· Maintain compliance with Indian Accounting Standards and applicable financial regulations.
· Present financial reports, dashboards, and MIS to the CEO and Board.
· Oversee consolidation of accounts across departments and projects.
Compliance & Governance
· Ensure compliance with Companies Act, Income Tax Act, GST, TDS, FEMA, CSR regulations, and other statutory requirements.
· Oversee compliance related to NGO regulations, including Trust/Society compliance, CSR fund utilization, FCRA (where applicable), and grant reporting.
· Liaise with statutory auditors, internal auditors, tax consultants, bankers, and regulatory authorities.
· Strengthen financial governance, internal controls, and risk management systems.
Grant & CSR Fund Management
· Monitor utilization of grants, CSR funds, institutional funding, and donor contributions.
· Ensure proper budgeting, utilization, documentation, and financial reporting for all funded projects.
· Coordinate with program teams for financial planning and donor compliance.
· Support fundraising and CSR teams by providing financial insights and due diligence.
Treasury & Risk Management
· Manage banking relationships, investments, liquidity, and treasury operations.
· Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
· Ensure adequate insurance coverage and financial safeguards for organizational assets.
Team Leadership
· Lead and mentor the Finance & Accounts team.
· Establish financial policies, SOPs, and internal control mechanisms.
· Build a high-performance finance function through continuous improvement and staff development.
Stakeholder Management
· Collaborate with donors, CSR partners, government agencies, financial institutions, and external consultants.
· Represent the organization in financial discussions, audits, and strategic meetings.
· Support organizational expansion through financial due diligence and investment planning.
