Store Manager – Job Description
Position: Store Manager
Department: Stores / Supply Chain
Reporting To: Plant Head / General Manager – Operations
Job Purpose
Responsible for managing the complete store function, including receipt, inspection, storage, inventory control, issue, preservation, and dispatch of materials, while ensuring accurate stock records and uninterrupted material availability for production and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the raw material, consumables, spare parts, tools and finished goods stores.
- Receive materials against Purchase Orders and verify quantity, documentation and physical condition.
- Coordinate with Purchase, Quality, Production, Maintenance, Finance and Logistics departments.
- Maintain accurate ERP/SAP inventory records and ensure timely transactions.
- Monitor minimum/maximum stock levels and initiate replenishment requirements.
- Ensure proper material identification, tagging, binning and storage.
- Control material issue against authorized requisitions.
- Conduct periodic physical stock verification and cycle counting.
- Investigate and reconcile stock discrepancies.
- Monitor slow-moving, non-moving and obsolete inventory.
- Ensure proper preservation of critical spares and consumable materials.
- Maintain FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.
- Ensure compliance with 5S, safety, housekeeping and material-handling procedures.
- Supervise store staff, allocate duties and monitor performance.
- Prepare MIS reports related to inventory, consumption, shortages and stock valuation.
- Coordinate with vendors/logistics teams for material receipt and dispatch.
- Support internal and external inventory audits.
- Develop systems to reduce inventory carrying costs and improve stock accuracy.
Required Experience & Skills
- Graduate/Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Mechanical or related field.
- Typically 8–15 years of relevant experience, with 3+ years in a supervisory/managerial stores role.
- Experience in manufacturing/engineering industry preferred.
- Good knowledge of ERP/SAP, inventory management and warehouse practices.
- Strong knowledge of material identification, stock control and documentation.
- Good leadership, coordination and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Pay: ₹13,596.19 - ₹28,648.49 per month
