The Extrusion Operator Head is responsible for overseeing the extrusion process for PVC, UPVC, CPVC, HDPE, PPR, and other plastic pipes and fittings. The role ensures efficient production, consistent product quality, machine reliability, and adherence to safety and operational standards. The position includes machine setup, process optimization, troubleshooting, team supervision, and achieving production targets.
Key Responsibilities :
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the extrusion department.
- Set up, operate, and monitor extrusion lines for pipes and fittings according to production plans.
- Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
- Optimize process parameters such as temperature, pressure, screw speed, vacuum, cooling, haul-off speed, and cutting operations.
- Monitor raw material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Perform first-level troubleshooting and coordinate maintenance for major machine issues.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed for extruders, vacuum tanks, cooling tanks, haul-off units, cutters, and socketing machines.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure pipe dimensions, wall thickness, weight, and appearance meet specified standards.
- Train, guide, and supervise extrusion operators and helpers.
- Maintain production records, machine logs, shift reports, and downtime reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, PPE requirements, 5S, and company policies.
- Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Stores departments for smooth production.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase productivity, reduce downtime, and minimize rejection.
