Animal Birth Control (ABC) & Treatment Manager
Location: Bhandup Veterinary Hospital
Job Purpose
To manage the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme by ensuring humane capture, sterilization, vaccination, treatment, rehabilitation, and release of community animals in accordance with the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023, AWBI Guidelines, and other applicable animal welfare laws.
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Management
- Manage the daily operations of the ABC Centre.
- Plan and monitor sterilization, vaccination, and treatment activities.
- Coordinate with municipal authorities, veterinary teams, and NGOs.
- Ensure availability of medicines, equipment, and other resources.
2. Veterinary & Animal Welfare
- Supervise animal admission, treatment, sterilization, vaccination, and post-operative care.
- Ensure humane handling, proper housing, feeding, sanitation, and infection control.
- Oversee rehabilitation and release of animals after veterinary clearance.
3. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with ABC Rules, 2023, AWBI Guidelines, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and submit required reports.
- Support inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
4. Team & Stakeholder Management
- Supervise veterinary, para-veterinary, and support staff.
- Conduct staff training and monitor performance.
- Address public complaints and coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and community representatives.
5. Health & Safety
- Ensure workplace safety, biomedical waste management, and infection control.
- Implement emergency response procedures and safe handling of medicines and equipment.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in veterinary services, animal welfare, or ABC programme management.
- Knowledge of ABC Rules, 2023, AWBI Guidelines, and animal welfare legislation.
