Position Overview
One of our clients, a privately owned manufacturing company in west suburban Chicago is looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper with hands-on experience in the Odoo ERP accounting module. The role focuses on managing day-to-day accounting transactions, reconciling accounts, ensuring accurate data flow within Odoo, and executing monthly closing procedures that result in draft financial reports.
A strong candidate has 3+ years of experience with Odoo, a conceptual understanding of GAAP, the ability to automate workflows within Odoo to optimize financial operations, and excellent Excel skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Odoo Data Management: Record and process daily transactions (AP/AR, general ledger) directly within Odoo.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, customer payments, and inventory accounts monthly within the system.
- Payroll Processing: Use payroll service provider (currently ADP) to manage all aspects of employee compensation and record in Odoo.
- Invoicing & Payments: Manage vendor bills and payments, customer invoices and receipts, and monitor associated aging reports
- Month-End Close: Execute month-end procedures to produce preliminary financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L) via Odoo.
- System Optimization: Utilize Odoo tools for financial reporting, dashboards, and workflow automation to improve efficiency.
- Compliance and Tax Matters: Complete sales tax and duty/tariff calculations and remittances, assist with other tax filings, and ensure data integrity within Odoo conforms to GAAP.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Odoo Proficiency: Proven experience working with the Odoo ERP Accounting module.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets and experience with digital reconciliation.
- Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting (in particular, project-based revenue recognition principles), and automated bank and credit card reconciliation.
- Attributes: High attention to detail, proactive, and capable of working independently from a remote setting.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a project-based accounting environment and understanding of associated revenue recognition issues (construction, manufacturing, or extended delivery cycle service industries)
- Knowledge of Odoo inventory module
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; candidates with an Associate’s degree and hands-on experience with Odoo or similar manufacturing-oriented ERP systems will be considered

Pay: ₹380.00 per hour
