Job Description – Purchase Manager (Power Boilers)

Role Summary
The Purchase Manager will be responsible for end-to-end procurement of raw materials, components, and services required for power boiler manufacturing — including plates, tubes, forgings, fasteners, refractory, insulation, valves, and fabrication consumables. The role requires strong vendor management, cost negotiation, and coordination with production, quality, and design teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and specification-compliant material availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute procurement of raw materials (boiler-grade plates, seamless tubes, forgings, castings, fasteners) as per production schedules and BOM requirements
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain an approved vendor base for boiler-grade materials, machinery, and fabrication services
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize cost without compromising quality
- Coordinate with Design/Engineering and QA teams to ensure procurement aligns with material specifications (ASME/IBR-approved sources, MTC requirements, etc.)
- Ensure timely procurement of imported/critical components and manage import documentation (LC, customs, freight forwarding) where applicable
- Monitor inventory levels, lead times, and ensure uninterrupted material supply to avoid production delays
- Conduct vendor audits, performance evaluation, and manage vendor rating systems
- Handle procurement of capital equipment/machinery for plant setup (in case of greenfield/expansion projects)
- Prepare and manage purchase budgets, cost-saving initiatives, and MIS reports for management review
- Ensure compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements (GST, customs, IBR-approved vendor sourcing, etc.)
- Resolve vendor disputes, quality rejections, and coordinate replacements/returns
- Drive digitization/ERP-based procurement processes for better tracking and control
Qualification & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech (Mechanicall) or Diploma Mechanical (preferred combination of technical)
- 8–15+ years of experience in procurement, preferably within Power Boiler / Pressure Vessel / Heavy Engineering / Fabrication industry
- Prior experience procuring boiler-grade raw materials (IBR/ASME approved sources) is highly preferred
Key Skills & Competencies
✅ Strong knowledge of boiler-grade materials — plates, tubes, forgings, fasteners, refractory/insulation ✅ Understanding of IBR/ASME vendor approval requirements and material traceability (MTC) ✅ Proven vendor negotiation and cost-optimization skills ✅ Experience with ERP/SAP-based procurement and inventory systems ✅ Strong coordination skills with QA, Design, Production, and Stores teams ✅ Knowledge of import procurement, logistics, and documentation (for imported components) ✅ Good analytical, negotiation, and vendor relationship management skills

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
