Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable General Duty Assistant (GDA) to provide high-quality home care support to patients in their residences. The ideal candidate will assist with daily living activities, ensure patient comfort, and support overall well-being under the guidance of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
- Help with mobility, transfers, and basic exercises as advised by healthcare staff
- Monitor and record vital signs (if trained) and report any changes in patient condition
- Support medication reminders (as per guidelines; no administration unless certified)
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the patient’s environment
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary requirements are met
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients
- Follow care plans and instructions from nurses or supervisors
- Ensure patient safety at all times
Requirements:
- Certification in General Duty Assistant (GDA) / Nursing Assistant or relevant training
- Previous experience in home care or hospital settings preferred
- Basic knowledge of patient care and hygiene practices
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle patients with patience and empathy
- Physically fit to assist with lifting and mobility tasks
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends if required
Preferred Qualifications:
- First aid and basic life support (BLS) training
- Experience with elderly or chronic illness care
