Key Responsibilities
Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement the overall quality strategy for foundry operations aligned with organizational goals
- Lead quality transformation initiatives across casting processes (SG Iron, Aluminum,
etc.)
- Build a culture of zero-defect and right-first-time
Process Quality & Control
- Ensure robust quality control systems across:
o Melting
o Moulding
o Core making
o Pouring
o Fettling & finishing
o APQP, PPAP
o FMEA, Control Plans
o SPC & MSA
Customer Quality Management
- Interface with OEM customers for quality reviews and audits
- Lead resolution of customer complaints using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5Why, Fishbone)
- Ensure adherence to customer-specific requirements (Maruti, Tata Motors, global OEMs)
Supplier Quality
- Drive supplier quality improvement programs
- Conduct audits and capability assessments for raw materials and outsourced processes
- Ensure incoming quality meets defined standards
Compliance & Systems
o IATF 16949
o ISO standards
o Environmental & safety norms
- Lead internal and external audits
Continuous Improvement
- Drive Six Sigma / Lean initiatives
- Reduce rejection, rework, and warranty claims
- Improve process capability (Cp, Cpk)
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the quality team across shifts and plants
- Build capability in problem-solving and quality tools
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and R&D teams
Key Requirements
Education
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Metallurgy
- Six Sigma certification (preferred)
Experience
- 18–25 years of experience in automotive manufacturing
- Strong exposure to foundry / casting operations
- Proven experience in leading quality for large-scale operations
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of casting processes (CI, SG Iron, Aluminum)
- Expertise in quality tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC
- Exposure to global OEM standards
