Finishing Engineer — Fit-Out & Interior Works
Department: Projects / Interior Fit-Out
Reports To: Project Manager / Site-in-Charge
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Project Site (as assigned)

Educational Qualification: Diploma / B.E. – B.Tech (Civil)
Job Purpose
The Finishing Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and supervising all finishing and interior fit-out works at the project site, ensuring work is completed as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. The role requires hands-on coordination with contractors, vendors, and consultants to deliver high-quality interior finishes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and execute day-to-day interior fit-out and finishing activities including false ceiling, partitions, flooring, painting, wall panelling, joinery, and civil finishing works.
- Study and interpret architectural, structural, and interior fit-out drawings (GFC/IFC), and ensure execution strictly as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate daily site activities with civil, MEP, HVAC, and electrical teams to ensure clash-free and timely completion of fit-out works.
- Prepare and monitor detailed work schedules, manpower deployment plans, and material requirement plans for finishing works.
- Conduct quality checks and inspections at each stage of finishing work to ensure compliance with approved quality standards, snag-free handover, and client specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors for execution of interior works, and monitor their performance against agreed timelines.
- Verify contractor/vendor bills, measurement sheets, and material reconciliation for finishing and fit-out works.
- Maintain daily progress reports (DPR), site records, material inward-outward registers, and update project management/tracking systems.
- Identify snags/defects during execution and ensure timely rectification prior to handover.
- Ensure compliance with safety norms, statutory requirements, and quality management systems at the site.
- Liaise with architects, interior designers, and consultants to resolve site-level technical queries and design clarifications.
- Assist in preparing material take-offs, BOQs, and technical submittals for finishing items.
- Support project handover process including preparation of as-built drawings, punch lists, and completion documentation.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of interior fit-out and finishing works — false ceiling, gypsum/POP, flooring (tile/stone/wooden/vinyl), painting, wall claddings, joinery, and modular work.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and interior working drawings.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD; familiarity with MS Project/Primavera for scheduling is an added advantage.
- Sound understanding of quality control procedures, finishing tolerances, and material specifications.
- Good coordination, communication, and vendor/contractor management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple work-fronts simultaneously and work under project timelines.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and documentation.
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering / Interior-related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in interior fit-out and finishing works, preferably with a fit-out contractor, interior design/build firm, or real estate developer.
- Prior experience in handling commercial, retail, hospitality, or corporate interior fit-out projects will be preferred.
