Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to join our GBS Finance team in India. The role will lead a small accounting team and take ownership of core accounting activities, month-end close, balance sheet integrity, financial reporting and analysis. The position will work closely with Finance stakeholders in India, the Netherlands.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support a team of accounting professionals, ensuring accurate and timely completion of daily, monthly and year-end activities.
Own the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, provisions, reconciliations and reporting.
Take end-to-end ownership of balance sheet accounts and ensure all key accounts are properly reconciled, supported and reviewed.
Identify and resolve aged or unusual reconciling items, investigate root causes and ensure timely corrective actions.
Analyse month-to-month P&L and cost movements, identify significant variances, and provide clear explanations and actions to Finance stakeholders.
Ensure accounting is performed in accordance with local GAAP and financial reporting is aligned with US GAAP and Group requirements.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting in SAP BPC and other relevant systems in line with Group deadlines.
Support intercompany accounting and reconciliations, including investigation and resolution of differences.
Support internal and external audits and maintain effective internal controls and accounting documentation.
Drive process standardisation, automation and continuous improvement across GBS accounting activities.
Profile
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multinational company or shared service/GBS environment.
Strong understanding of month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, provisions and financial reporting.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to explain financial and cost variances and identify root causes.
Experience leading, coaching or mentoring accounting team members.
Good knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP; experience with SAP/ERP systems. SAP BPC and QAD are a plus.
Advanced Excel skills, strong attention to detail and a high level of ownership.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders across India, Europe and the US.
Nice to Have
Experience in a global shared service or GBS organisation.
Experience with intercompany transactions and multi-currency accounting.
Knowledge of VAT, withholding tax or other accounting-related compliance requirements.
