We are looking for an experienced Senior Analyst to lead GC-MS (Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry) testing operations within our analytical chemistry division. The ideal candidate will independently handle method development, sample analysis, instrument troubleshooting, and quality compliance for a wide range of matrices including environmental, food, water, and chemical samples.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples using GC-MS, ensuring accuracy, precision, and adherence to standard testing protocols (EPA, ASTM, IS, AOAC, or other applicable methods)
- Develop, validate, and optimize GC-MS methods for new analytes/matrices
- Conduct instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure minimal downtime
- Prepare and review SOPs, work instructions, and method validation protocols
- Ensure compliance with NABL/ISO 17025:2017 requirements, including documentation, traceability, and QA/QC practices
- Review analytical data, interpret results, and prepare technical reports
- Maintain calibration records, reference standards, and consumables inventory for the GC-MS lab
- Investigate and document non-conformances, deviations, and out-of-specification results; support CAPA processes
- Train and mentor junior analysts/technicians on GC-MS operation and best practices
- Support internal and external audits (NABL assessments, customer audits)
- Coordinate with sales/key account teams on technical queries related to GC-MS testing services
- Ensure laboratory safety protocols are followed, especially around solvent handling and instrument operation
Required Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field (B.Sc. with significant relevant experience may also be considered)
- 4–7 years of hands-on experience operating GC-MS in an accredited testing/analytical laboratory
- Strong working knowledge of NABL/ISO 17025:2017 documentation and QA practices
- Experience with method validation, uncertainty calculations, and proficiency testing
- Familiarity with GC-MS software (e.g., Agilent MassHunter, Shimadzu LabSolutions, or equivalent)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multi-residue pesticide analysis, VOC/SVOC testing, or similar applications
- Exposure to LC-MS/MS or other complementary analytical techniques
- Prior experience training/mentoring junior staff
- Strong report-writing and client communication skills
Pay: ₹407,448.75 - ₹1,503,421.40 per year
