Job Profile – Cosmetic Production Manager cum Formulator1. Product Formulation & Development
- Develop and formulate new cosmetic, personal care, skincare, haircare and herbal products.
- Modify and improve existing formulations for better performance, stability, texture, fragrance and consumer acceptability.
- Select appropriate raw materials, active ingredients, preservatives, fragrances, colours, emulsifiers and excipients.
- Prepare laboratory-scale trial batches and conduct formulation trials.
- Establish appropriate formulation parameters and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct stability, compatibility and performance evaluation of formulations.
- Coordinate with suppliers for evaluation and selection of suitable raw materials.
2. Production Management
- Plan, supervise and control day-to-day cosmetic production activities.
- Prepare production plans according to sales requirements and available resources.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned time, cost and quality parameters.
- Monitor batch manufacturing, filling, packing and labeling operations.
- Allocate manpower, machinery and production resources effectively.
- Maintain proper batch records, production records and process documentation.
- Coordinate with stores, purchase, quality control, packaging and dispatch departments.
3. Quality & Process Control
- Ensure products are manufactured according to approved SOPs, formulations and batch manufacturing procedures.
- Monitor critical production parameters such as temperature, mixing time, pH, viscosity, homogeneity and appearance.
- Investigate production deviations, batch failures and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with the QC/QA team for raw material, in-process and finished-product quality control.
- Ensure proper hygiene, sanitation and safety practices throughout the production area.
- Support implementation of GMP and cosmetic manufacturing requirements.
4. Cost & Productivity Management
- Optimize formulations and manufacturing processes to reduce production cost and material wastage.
- Monitor raw-material consumption and yield.
- Identify opportunities for improving batch size, production efficiency and machine utilization.
- Minimize rejection, rework and wastage.
- Maintain cost-effective formulation without compromising product quality.
5. Team Management
- Supervise production operators, technicians and other manufacturing staff.
- Train employees on formulation procedures, manufacturing processes, GMP, hygiene and safety.
- Assign daily responsibilities and monitor employee performance.
- Maintain discipline and productivity within the production department.
6. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain formulation sheets, master manufacturing records, batch records and process specifications.
- Prepare and update SOPs, work instructions and production-related documents.
- Maintain records required for audits and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with regulatory/QA teams regarding product specifications, documentation and compliance requirements.
7. New Product Development
- Research and develop innovative cosmetic products based on market trends and customer requirements.
- Conduct competitor and market-product analysis.
- Develop prototypes and scale successful formulations from lab scale to commercial production.
- Coordinate product trials, packaging compatibility and commercial batch development.
