WeLive Foundation is a non-profit organization supporting young adults transitioning from Child Care Institutions (CCIs) to independent living. Our Residential Bridge Program provides a safe and supportive environment where young people develop the skills, confidence, and resilience required for successful adulthood through the pillars of Well-being and Work Readiness.
Position Summary
The Caretaker is responsible for the day-to-day management and smooth functioning of the Men's Residential Center. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive living environment while ensuring that residents actively participate in education, employment, life skills, and community living. The Caretaker serves as a mentor and primary point of support, promoting discipline, responsibility, and personal growth among young men.
Key Responsibilities
1. Residential Centre Management
- Ensure the safety, security, and smooth functioning of the residential centre.
- Maintain the physical premises, ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and a safe living environment.
- Monitor maintenance requirements and coordinate repairs when necessary.
- Oversee the availability and proper use of household resources and equipment.
2. Community Living and Resident Engagement
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive community among residents.
- Promote healthy relationships, mutual respect, and shared responsibility within the centre.
- Encourage participation in household responsibilities and community activities.
- Facilitate regular house meetings to discuss concerns, responsibilities, and centre updates.
3. Well-being Support
- Build trusting relationships with young men and maintain open communication.
- Identify and respond to emotional or behavioural concerns, escalating issues when required.
- Coordinate counselling, mentoring, and life coaching sessions with the program team.
- Support residents in developing healthy routines and positive coping strategies.
4. Work Readiness and Education Support
- Monitoring youth attend educational institutions, training programs, internships, or workplaces regularly and punctually.
- Monitor attendance and follow up on absenteeism or performance concerns.
- Support youth in developing life skills such as time management, budgeting, communication, and problem-solving.
5. Daily Operations
- Maintain daily schedules and ensure adherence to centre rules and routines.
- Monitoring and enabling youth for meal arrangements, cleanliness, cooking, and general discipline within the centre.
- Ensure emergency procedures and safety protocols are followed.
6. Documentation and Administration
- Maintain accurate resident records, attendance registers, visitor logs, incident reports, and daily diaries.
- Update databases and program trackers regularly.
- Safeguard confidential documents related to residents and the program.
- Prepare periodic reports as required by the Program Manager.
7. Coordination and Communication
- Maintain regular communication with the mentor and with team.
- Coordinate with employers, educational institutions, training centres, healthcare providers, and other service providers whenever required.
- Support the implementation of centre activities, workshops, exposure visits, and events.
8. Safeguarding and Child Protection
- Uphold WeLive Foundation's safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
- Ensure the dignity, privacy, and rights of all residents are respected.
- Promptly report any safeguarding concerns, emergencies, or critical incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with adolescents or young adults in residential settings.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office/Google Workspace).
- Ability to work in a residential and community-based environment.

Working Hours
As per the residential centre schedule. Flexibility may be required to respond to emergencies or support centre activities beyond regular working hours.
