A scrub nurse is a specialized registered nurse who works in an operating room. They "scrub in" to wash their hands and put on sterile gowns and gloves. They work inside the sterile field during surgery to hand tools to the surgeon and keep the environment clean and safe.
Key Duties
- Before Surgery: Set up sterile tables, check medical equipment, and count tools and sponges.
- During Surgery: Hand instruments to the surgeon, watch for safety issues, and track how many items are used.
- After Surgery: Do final tool counts, help clean up, and get the patient ready for the recovery room.
Steps to Become One
- Earn a nursing degree (Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
- Pass the licensing exam to become a registered nurse.
- Get work experience in a hospital or busy care unit.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
