Job Summary
The CNC Milling Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture high-precision mould components for tool room operations in Plastic Injection Moulding. The role includes interpreting engineering drawings, machine setup, tool selection, program handling, and ensuring production of components within specified tolerances and quality standards. The operator should possess strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and precision inspection while working in a rotating shift environment.
Key Responsibilities
Reading and Understanding Drawings
- Interpret 2D drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to understand dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements
- Understand process sequence before machining
Dimension Extraction from Drawings
- Extract critical dimensions from engineering drawings
- Identify datums and reference points for machining
- Verify machining dimensions before operation
CNC Milling Setup
- Set up jobs accurately on CNC milling machines
- Perform fixture alignment and workpiece clamping
- Select suitable cutting tools, holders, and inserts
- Verify offsets and machine zero settings
CNC Machine Operation
- Operate CNC milling machines independently
- Load and run programs
- Monitor machining cycle and process stability
- Adjust parameters based on material and component requirements
- Perform roughing, finishing, drilling, pocketing, contouring, and slotting operations
Tool Handling
- Select suitable cutting tools based on material and profile
- Inspect tools before use
- Replace worn tools as required
- Maintain tool life records
Precision Measurement and Quality Control
- Use measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier caliper
- Micrometer
- Height gauge
- Dial gauge
- Bore gauge
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and required tolerances
- Perform in-process and final inspection
- Maintain quality records
Tool Room Support
- Support mould maintenance and new mould manufacturing
- Machine mould parts such as:
- Core inserts
- Cavity inserts
- Sliders
- Plates
- Electrodes
- Fixtures
- Maintain machine cleanliness and preventive maintenance
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Tool & Die Making/Diploma in Tool and Die Engineering/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Diploma in Precision machinist
- CNC machining certification preferred
- 3–5 years of CNC milling experience in tool room or precision manufacturing
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of CNC milling operations
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Knowledge of CNC machine setup and operation
- Familiarity with mould component machining
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments
- Understanding of machining tolerances and quality standards
- Knowledge of cutting tools and tool offsets
Preferred Skills
- Experience in mould parts manufacturing
- Experience in electrode manufacturing
- Basic knowledge of CNC program editing and manual programming

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
