Role Overview
As part of the Urban Practice Team, you will contribute to research, strategy and implementation support across a range of urban development mandates. Your work may include:
Key Responsibilities
Policy Research & Problem Solving
- Conduct research and analysis on urban governance, municipal systems, infrastructure and public service delivery
- Develop policy notes, strategy papers, concept notes and decision-support materials
- Structure complex problems and generate actionable recommendations
Project Design & Implementation Support
- Support the design and execution of urban transformation projects and reform initiatives
- Contribute to project management, monitoring frameworks and implementation
- Work with government departments, ULBs and partner institutions on delivery support
Data, Technology & Urban Innovation
- Apply data, digital tools and emerging technologies to urban policy and governance challenges
- Support work related to urban analytics, service delivery improvement, GovTech and innovation-led solutions
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Support client management, stakeholder coordination and government-facing engagements
- Contribute to presentations, workshops, consultations and high-quality client deliverables
- Participate in proposals and thought leadership initiatives
Required Qualifications
Preferred Background
Degrees in urban planning, urban management, public policy, economics, engineering, architecture, development studies, or related fields are preferred.
Preferred Experience
We value candidates with experience or demonstrated interest in one or more of the following areas:
- Urban governance, municipal systems and institutional reform
- Urban planning, infrastructure and service delivery
- Mobility, housing and sustainable cities
- Public fi nance / municipal fi nance
- Urban programme management
Experience requirements vary by level:
- Associate: 1–3 years relevant experience (including strong internships)
- Senior Associate: 3–6 years relevant professional experience
Familiarity with urban and analytical tools is a strong plus, including:
- Spatial analysis and mapping tools (GIS, spatial diagnostics, basic geospatial analysis)
- Data analysis and visualisation tools (Excel, Power BI/Tableau, basic Python/R preferred)
- Urban diagnostics, systems mapping and problem-structuring frameworks
- Project monitoring tools, dashboards and implementation tracking systems
- Emerging digital and AI tools for research, analysis and governance innovation
