ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The GIS Specialist will be responsible for developing, managing, analysing, and visualizing geospatial data to support architecture, engineering, urban planning, infrastructure, and master planning projects. The role involves integrating GIS with CAD,BIM, and other digital design platforms to deliver accurate spatial analysis and mapping solutions that enhance project planning, design, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Spatial Data Management: Provide GIS services in developing and maintaining the project geodatabase (.gdb).Compile and organize spatial datasets including site boundaries, plot layouts, shoreline features, existing site elements, and land use layers, ensuring datasets are properly georeferenced and aligned with the approved coordinate system.
- GIS Data Preparation for Authority Submissions: Prepare GIS datasets required for CMP and DMP submissions. Prepare spatial data according to DMT Spatial Data Submission Specifications and ensure alignment between GIS spatial datasets and the Development Statistics Summary (DSS).
- Spatial Analysis and Mapping: Produce maps and spatial analysis including Land Use Plans, Plot Layout Plans, Development Phasing Plans, Community Facilities Plans, Public Realm and Open Space Mapping, and Site Context Maps.
- Planning Support: Prepare site analysis maps, spatial datasets, and GIS outputs required for master plan documentation and planning reports.
- Data Validation and Quality Control: Conduct GIS QA/QC checks to ensure spatial data accuracy and consistency. Verify plot boundaries, land use classifications, and spatial attributes prior to submission.
- Coordination: Coordinate with master planners, urban designers, and project teams to maintain consistency between GIS datasets and the approved master plan.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geoinformatics, Geography, Surveying, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of relevant GIS experience, preferably in architecture, engineering, infrastructure, or urban planning projects.
- Strong understanding of spatial analysis, coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial data management.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, and other GIS software.
- Experience with spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/Post GIS, SQL Server Spatial, or Oracle Spatial.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, BIM workflows, and interoperability between GIS and BIM.
- Experience with remote sensing, LiDAR, drone mapping, and image processing is desirable.
- Familiarity with Python, Model Builder, or GIS automation workflows.
- Experience with web GIS technologies such as ArcGIS Enterprise, Experience Builder, Web App Builder, Leaflet, or Map box is an advantage.
- Understanding of OGC standards, WMS/WFS services, and geospatial data formats.
- Knowledge of GPS data collection and survey workflows
