Job Description: Assistant Manager (Operations) — Apple Procurement & CA Cold Storage

About the Role
We are scaling a multi-chamber CA cold-storage and apple distribution operation sourcing premium Kashmir-grown fruit (KD and Delicious varieties) for organized retail and wholesale buyers. We are looking for a hands-on Operations Executive to own end-to-end execution across the value chain — from grower-level procurement in the Valley, to CA storage management, to grading, packing, and dispatch.
This is a high-ownership role suited to someone who is equally comfortable in an orchard, a cold-storage chamber, and a packing line, and who can move between field operations in Kashmir and storage/distribution operations in Delhi NCR through the season.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & grower relations
- Coordinate procurement from agents and mandis across Kashmir during the September–November window.
- Supervise (lead a team) field operations during harvest — picking quality, crate filling, weighment, and loading.
- Maintain grower/supplier relationships and ensure adherence to agreed procurement terms and quality specifications.
- Track arrivals, reconcile quantities against agreements, and manage procurement documentation.
CA cold storage
- Oversee day-to-day CA chamber operations — loading/unloading schedules, stock rotation, and chamber-wise inventory tracking.
- Monitor storage conditions (temperature, atmosphere, humidity) and coordinate with technical/QC staff to maintain fruit quality through the storage cycle.
- Plan staggered release of inventory across the storage season in line with the sales calendar.
Grading, sorting & packing
- Supervise grading, sorting, and packing operations to meet buyer-grade specifications.
- Enforce quality standards and minimize wastage across the line.
- Coordinate packaging material, labelling, and order-readiness for dispatch.
Logistics & distribution
- Plan and coordinate inbound (farm → CA Store) and outbound (Kashmir→ Buyer) logistics.
- Liaise with transporters, manage dispatch schedules, and ensure timely, in-spec deliveries.
Reporting & coordination
- Maintain accurate operational records — inventory, quality, wastage, and dispatch data.
- Provide regular operational updates to management and flag risks early.
- Coordinate across procurement, QC, storage, and sales functions.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 8-10 years of experience in the Indian Army
- Graduate degree/ diploma; a background in agriculture, supply chain, logistics, or operations is an advantage.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience managing field.
- Strong coordination skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders (growers, transporters, labour, buyers).
- Comfortable with travel and willing to be stationed in Kashmir during peak operation months
- Working proficiency in MS Excel and basic inventory/operational record-keeping.
Preferred / Desirable
- Prior exposure to agriculture/ Agri business
- Familiarity with Kashmir.
- Preference will be given to Ex- Servicemen who has been posted in Kashmir, Minimum 4 years
Location & Travel
- Based in Delhi NCR (Jhilmil, Delhi / Noida) for the off-season and distribution operations.
- Extended travel and on-ground presence in Kashmir during the procurement and harvest season (approximately September–November), with periodic visits through the storage cycle.
Compensation
- Rs.25000- 30000 Per month (CTC)
- Travel, stay during Kashmir deployment: Covered by employer
- Performance-linked incentives: Upto 1 months pay (Rs. 30000). Strictly linked to performance
