Job Description
Infinite Echoes is seeking an experienced and detail-driven VFX Paint Artist at the Mid to Senior Level to join our post-production pipeline. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, strong compositing fundamentals, and extensive experience in paint, roto, prep, and clean-up work for high-end film, episodic, and commercial projects.
You will be responsible for removing unwanted elements, extending sets, patching and reconstructing plates, wire and rig removal, beauty work, and ensuring seamlessly invisible fixes that maintain the integrity of every shot.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced paint and clean-up work including wire removal, rig removal, marker removal, set extensions, and object removal
- Execute plate reconstruction and patch work to seamlessly restore backgrounds and environments
- Perform beauty and cosmetic fixes on talent (blemish removal, wardrobe fixes, etc.)
- Handle dust busting, scratch removal, and grain management across sequences
- Perform camera projection-based paint fixes for complex moving shots using 3D projections
- Work with tracking data and CG renders to integrate paint work into moving plates
- Collaborate closely with compositors, roto artists, matchmove artists, and VFX supervisors to achieve final shot delivery
- Ensure consistency of color, lighting, grain, texture, and perspective across all paint work
- Manage and organize shot files within the studio's asset management and pipeline tools
- Provide accurate time estimates for assigned shots and communicate progress to leads and production
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve complex paint challenges with creative and efficient solutions
- Mentor and support junior paint artists, providing guidance, feedback, and quality oversight
- Maintain high standards of quality while meeting tight production deadlines
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and emerging techniques in VFX paint and prep
Required Qualifications
- 3–8+ years of professional experience as a VFX Paint / Prep Artist in film, episodic, or commercial VFX
- Strong demo reel / portfolio showcasing high-quality paint, prep, and clean-up work
- Expert proficiency in Nuke (primary) — specifically paint, roto, and projection workflows
- Strong working knowledge of Silhouette, Mocha Pro, or similar roto/paint tools
- Solid understanding of 2D tracking, 3D camera projections, and projection-based paint techniques
- Deep understanding of color theory, light behavior, perspective, and photographic principles
- Excellent knowledge of grain, noise management, and texture matching
- Experience with plate reconstruction for complex shots involving camera movement
- Strong understanding of the VFX production pipeline and how paint/prep fits within it
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented mindset
- Strong attention to detail with a passion for invisible, seamless work
