BMGF projects emphasize behavior change communication, capacity building of healthcare providers, and policy support to improve long-term disease management and reduce complications. Overall, the goal is to create sustainable, scalable models that reduce the burden of diabetes and improve health outcomes in resource-constrained settings. A strong focus is placed on integrating diabetes care into existing public health programs, especially through community health workers and digital health platforms.
Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end implementation and coordination of the Gates funded Shared Medical Appointments (SMAs) and Chatbots to Improve Diabetes and Hypertension Control SMA Diabetes project across multiple PHCs and associated villages.

Oversee field operations including participant recruitment, delivery of SMAs, and integration of AI-enabled care coordination tools.

Coordinate with principal investigators (both in India and the United Kingdom), MSSRF internal teams, and external partners including academic institutions and technology partners to ensure timely execution of project activities.

Support development and submission of grant applications, including preparation of budgets, budget narratives, documentation, and coordination across stakeholders.

Manage stakeholder engagement with government partners, including the Department of Public Health (DPH), district officials, PHC Medical Officers, and frontline health staff.

Facilitate statutory approvals and compliance processes (e.g., ethics approvals, HMSC, DSA, CTRI) and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Supervise and coordinate field teams including Study Coordinators, Research Assistants, WHVs, and nursing staff; ensure quality, timelines, and adherence to study protocols.

Coordinate deployment, testing, and integration of AI-enabled tools in field settings, including working with technology partners on specifications, testing, and training.

Oversee operational and administrative processes including staff and volunteer payments, procurement, vendor coordination, and internal coordination with finance, HR, and procurement teams.

Ensure effective data collection, monitoring, and documentation processes, including quality assurance and compliance with research and data protection standards.

Support preparation of reports, donor communication, and documentation required for ongoing project management and future scale-up or evaluation activities.
Qualification

Postgraduate degree in Public Health Management, Development Studies, or MBA
Experience

At least 8–10 years of experience in managing large-scale field-based research or development projects, preferably in public health. Experience in coordinating randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or similar evaluations is desirable.

Experience working in rural Tamil Nadu and familiarity with government public health systems is an advantage.

Tamil language proficiency is desirable. Demonstrated experience in grant writing for international and domestic donors, donor management, and multi-stakeholder coordination (including PHC staff, Medical Officers, DPH, research teams, community workers, and technology partners).

Exposure to digital health or AI-enabled healthcare models is an added advantage.
