Plant & Machinery (P&M) Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end management, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of all heavy construction equipment, machinery, and plants at the project site. This role ensures maximum equipment availability, strict adherence to site safety standards, and cost-effective operations to support seamless civil and infrastructure execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Planning & Mobilization: Coordinate with project management to assess machinery requirements (e.g., excavators, cranes, batching plants, transit mixers, crushers) and manage the timely mobilization and demobilization of equipment to and from the site.
- Operations & Maintenance (O&M): Oversee daily operations, preventive maintenance schedules, and breakdown repairs for all site machinery to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Breakdown & Troubleshooting Management: Lead mechanical and electrical troubleshooting efforts during equipment failures, coordinating swiftly with internal technicians or external OEM vendors for prompt repairs.
- Spare Parts & Inventory Control: Maintain optimal stock levels of critical spare parts, lubricants, consumables, and tools; manage procurement requisitions and track inventory usage.
- Safety & Compliance (HSE): Enforce strict safety protocols, "Zero Tolerance" policies, and Tool Box Talks (TBT) related to equipment operations. Ensure all machinery possesses valid Fitness Certificates, Third-Party Test (TPT) certifications, and safety guards.
- Logistics & Fuel Management: Monitor and regulate daily fuel consumption, lubricant usage, and logbooks for all heavy machinery and transport vehicles to prevent pilferage and control operating costs.
- Vendor & Contractor Management: Liaise with equipment rental vendors, service providers, and OEM representatives for AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts), major overhauls, and warranty claims.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date equipment history logs, breakdown reports, preventive maintenance checklists, and Joint Measurement Records (JMR) for equipment rentals and bill certifications.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Automobile Engineering.
- Experience: 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in managing heavy construction machinery and equipment at large-scale civil, infrastructure, or railway construction sites.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of heavy earthmoving machinery, hydraulics, diesel engines, electrical systems, and site plants (batching plants, crushers, etc.). Familiarity with safety compliance and statutory machinery norms.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, crisis management, vendor negotiation, and effective communication skills to coordinate between site execution teams and maintenance crews.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
