A Senior OT Technician ensures the seamless execution of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. They manage specialized surgical equipment, enforce strict infection-control protocols, prepare the sterile field, and directly assist plastic surgeons and anesthesiologists with intricate procedures like body contouring, facelifts, and microsurgery.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Operative Preparation:
- Environment Setup: Ensure the Operation Theatre (OT) is sanitized, fumigated, and maintained at the precise temperature and humidity required for specialized surgeries.
- Equipment Calibration: Check, test, and calibrate specialized plastic surgery equipment (e.g., liposuction machines, micro-motor systems, electrosurgical /cautery units) prior to procedures.
- Tray Arrangement: Organize and set up specific instrument trays (e.g., dissectors, retractors, micro-instruments for rhinoplasty or flaps).
Intra-Operative Assistance:
- Surgical Support: Scrub in to pass instruments accurately and assist surgeons directly with delicate maneuvers.
- Patient Positioning: Assist in safely shifting and precisely positioning patients on the operating table.
- Safety Protocols: Execute safety checks (sponge, needle, and instrument counts) to prevent the retention of foreign objects.
Post-Operative & Sterilization Duties:
- Instrument Processing: Decontaminate, pack, and sterilize surgical tools (including delicate or complex power equipment) using clinic autoclaves.
- Waste Management: Dispose of hazardous biomedical waste according to strict compliance standards.
- Room Turnaround: Disinfect and reset the operating theatre to ensure readiness for the next scheduled procedure.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Diploma or B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) or a recognized equivalent healthcare certification.
- Experience: 8 to10+ years of clinical experience, specifically within plastic surgery, cosmetic, or reconstructive surgery setups.
- Skill Set: Proficiency in human anatomy, exceptional knowledge of specialized surgical instrumentation, and a strong understanding of NABH infection-control guidelines.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
