ABOUT THE COMPANY
Pirgal Consulting Private Limited is a multidisciplinary consulting company based in Bangalore. We provide allied and support services across accounting and finance, direct and indirect taxation, GST and tax litigation support, legal and regulatory compliance, construction and real estate. We work alongside Chartered Accountants, Advocates and other practising professionals, supporting them and their clients on live matters — which means our teams build technical depth across several disciplines rather than within a single vertical.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a litigation-support seat for a law graduate who wants to specialise in indirect tax. You will research, draft and build the case on live GST matters — show cause notices, adjudication, appeals and writ support — and also get exposure to the construction, real estate and commercial matters that come through a multidisciplinary consulting company. You will work alongside the practising Chartered Accountants and Advocates engaged on those matters, which is the fastest way to learn tax litigation properly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft replies to show cause notices, scrutiny notices and audit observations under the GST law, and prepare appeals before the Appellate Authority and Tribunal.
- Conduct legal research on Manupatra and other databases — statutory interpretation, judicial precedent, circulars and notifications — and produce clear research notes.
- Assist in preparing writ petitions and related filings before the High Court, in coordination with counsel where briefed.
- Support representation before adjudicating and appellate authorities — prepare submissions and paperbooks, brief the professional appearing on the matter, and attend personal hearings alongside them.
- Draft and vet legal correspondence, opinions, undertakings and replies to departmental queries.
- Support the wider legal desk on construction and real-estate matters — contract review, RERA compliance, title and documentation queries, recovery and commercial notices.
- Maintain the case diary — limitation dates, hearing dates, filings and status — and report matter progress to the reporting manager.
- Guide and review the work of legal interns attached to your matters.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Strong legal drafting and research ability — you will be judged primarily on the quality of what you write.
- Working knowledge of the GST law, or a clear willingness to build it quickly; understanding of the Constitution, CPC and Evidence Act fundamentals.
- Confident oral communication — you will be in front of officers and appellate authorities with our seniors, and in front of clients on your own.
- Fluency in English required; Kannada strongly preferred for court and department work.
- Familiarity with Manupatra, SCC Online or similar legal databases.
- Organised, deadline-disciplined, and able to carry several matters at once.
- Willingness to travel to departmental offices, tribunals and courts in and around Bangalore.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Substantive litigation work from day one, not documentation.
- Working alongside practising Chartered Accountants and Advocates on the same files — rare, and the best possible training in tax litigation.
- Access to Manupatra, the Company's legal SOP library and internal training programmes.
- Structured progression to Senior Associate as your matter load and independence grow.
